About Writersaid
Ten years ago, while I was attending U.C.L.A. full-time as a single mother, Writersaid was born. I began by giving my fellow students creative, organizational, and editorial advice and based on the amazing relationships that were forged, and the work my student clients and I produced, I decided to take my business to a professional level.
I became acquainted with a truly innovative and talented author, S.L. Stebel, who put his trust in me, and was impressed enough with my work to recommend me to several colleagues.
Voila! Entrepreneurship - the life-blood of the free-market system (well, I was a political science major!) The challenge has, at times, been enormous - but I'm sure I've found my calling.
Over the years, Writersaid has developed into a full service for writers at all levels of experience, and in many genres.
Writersaid provides the following services:
Editing
- Do your words and ideas flow lyrically, leading to an unambiguous and meaningful point?
Did you write 1200 pages when the publisher asked for 400?
Did you put your apostrophes in the right place?
One idea to a paragraph? I tend to think of words as pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Locked together in a certain way, they form a perfect picture.
Research
- Your main character grew up in Yonkers/New Guinea/Byelorussia - please don't deprive your readers of the details that not only add richness to your text, but make your character who he or she is!
Your antagonist's playground is the South of France - where does he dine, dance, reside? How many cylinders does his classic 1963 Renault have?
Details, details! They give a story life.
Ghostwriting
- Your memoirs are a gift to your generation and the many that will follow. I work in a number of ways, suited to the individual, to elicit a powerful and moving documentation of one's history and thoughts.
You are immensely talented in a variety of fields, with the exception of writing. Whether you are an entrepreneur in need of a impressive business plan, an activist in need of a concise, yet illustrative, plea for funding, or a professional with a rusty ball-point and a deadline, I can help.
Consultations
- I provide motivational exercises, ways to organize thoughts and ideas, help with character and plot development, help with writing a treatment, finding an agent, and submitting your work, and, perhaps most importantly, I'm great for morale support.
Publicity/Promotion
- The book is completed, has been published, and is on the bookstore shelves. Thought you were done? Publishers are putting less time and spending less money on their authors (unless you're Jackie Collins) than ever before. Don't let the process stall out now. Your name and your book's title must reach as many eyes and ears as possible. This includes setting up book tours, scheduling interviews with media, writing and designing marketing packages (newsletters, press releases, etc.), submitting books for review, and managing author angst.
Internet Publicity
- Websites can be an excellent way of generating interest in an author or a book. I can design a website for you and publicize it all over the Net. There is a huge writing and reading community out there - take advantage!
